The Adam Lounge Chair is designed by the Swedish designer Kerstin H. Holmquist during her employment at Nordiska Kompaniet, NK, in 1958. Adam is the masculine piece of Holmquist’s Paradiset Collection, where all names are inspired by “Paradiset” – the Swedish name for Eden or Paradise.
With its sculptural and organic form, the Adam Lounge Chair holds a soft simplicity with an air of romance. The armrests run over smoothly into the high back and provides elegant, round and embracing curves with optimal support. Combine the lounge chair with the ottoman Fig Leaf or its counterpart Eva Lounge Chair.
Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist (1925-1997) was a Swedish modernist architect and designer. She is remembered today, for her ability to create designs for the modern home in the 1950's without worrying about short lived trends and what other people thought - to stay true to her own unique and humanistic design vision. She often worked with her husband Erik Holmquist, and together they modelled and created the pieces together. A key aspect for the couple was always to test out their designs in their own home before completing a project.
