Scape’s modules are engineered with robust and lightweight glass reinforced concrete (GRC). The beneficial properties of GRC allows less material to be used than that of traditional concrete – while offering a considerably stronger and more durable product. Scape’s modules are produced via the preferred GRC manufacturing method, whereby a scientifically formulated composition of premium quality glass fibre and cement are sprayed into a mould. The GRC is then cured in a humid environment, adding increased durability to the finished product.
The GRC surface presents with a lovely tactility – smooth with a ‘stone-like’ texture. The GRC is available in either grey or white, and the surface may be left in its natural state or finished with a graffiti protective sealant on request. The seat of the Scape module’s may be selected in either GRC or Smoked Oak (this excludes the Scape island module and Scape island with planter module which is only available in GRC). Scape’s GRC is manufactured to exacting International standards.
Scape’s components are manufactured with anti-corrosive aluminium and finished in hard-wearing, UV-stable, textured powder coat. Scape’s canopy features Sunbrella’s exterior-grade fabric shade which is fixed to the frame using marine-grade cord toggles with stainless steel crimps and eyelets.
Drawing on Scape’s affinity to various naturescapes, the colour palette derives references from mother nature’s very basic elements – water, earth and vegetation. We have focused on Teal Sea, Burgundy Clay and Banksia Leaf to bring the collection to life. For all available powder coat colours please see the tab ‘Scape Specifications’.
A firm believer that every environment is defined by the objects within it, Adam Goodrum designs with the philosophy that an object must therefore justify its existence – through its story and detailing. For this reason, his designs celebrate process and craftsmanship, and accentuate components and joinery to create functional pieces with spirit and personality. In recent years, Goodrum’s work has been awarded a host of design accolades including the NGV Rigg Prize, Vogue x Alessi Design Prize, Indesign Luminary Award and the Idea Awards Editor’s Medal. He has also been commissioned to design pieces for several global luxury brands including Veuve Clicquot, Alessi and Cappellini.
